In the early 1970s, rap became a genre of musical entertainment in block parties in New York City, especially within the African-American community. DJs used this genre of music to energize the dancing public and keep the party alive till dawn. This genre of music influenced so many teenagers at that time including Sean John Combs a.k.a Puff Daddy.
Sean John Combs came to earth on November 4th, 1969 in Harlem, New York City. Due to the death of his father at an early age, Sean was raised single-handedly by his mother. Nine years later, his family moved to Mount Vernon, New York where he attended prep school and was nicknamed “Puffy” due to his habit of puffing out his chest to make his body appear bigger during football matches. He later enrolled in Howard University where he studied Business Administration while organizing weekly parties and offering airport shuttle services.
To pursue his dreams of music, Sean dropped out of school and worked as an intern for Uptown Records, an American record label based in New York City. Being an intern in this recording house ushered Sean into a talent-directed job. With his knowledge of business administration and skills in organizing events, he immediately climbed the ladder and was appointed Vice President within a year. In December 1991, Sean promoted a charity basketball game at the City College of New York which led to the death of nine people and 29 injured as the crowd pushed their way into the arena. Uptown Records could no longer work with Sean hence he was fired in 1993.
Leaving Uptown Records, Sean channelled his efforts, experience gathered and connections made at his previous job to create his recording label, Bad Boys Entertainment. He worked with upcoming and established hip-hop, and R&B artists such as Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Boys 2 Men, etc. These artists were highly patronized by the public hence Sean accrued millions of dollars working with them.
With his mastery in the music industry, Sean discovered a street hustler named Christopher Wallace a.k.a The Notorious B.I.G. who was a rapper and brought him to fame after a year. This action open doors to a 15-million-dollar deal to move his record label to Arista Records.
Sean gained fame and a growing industry-wide reputation as a rap impresario and an entrepreneur worldwide. He became one of the most talked about personalities in the music industry not just as a producer but also as a talented rapper who won Grammy Awards with his albums. He spread his tentacles towards other areas of life like creating a reality show, signing a deal with the beverage brand Cîroc, and buying a hip-hop clothing line. In 2013 Sean started his music orientation network Revolt and in 2017 he declared interest in buying the North Carolina Panther to increase the number of African American NFL owners.
Through Bad Boy Entertainment, Sean gave the world most of the big-name artists the world has enjoyed over the years with countless hits. This made him one of the wealthiest music moguls and enabled him to change the face of hip-hop. Despite all the label's success recorded by Sean, he faced so many challenges in his career such as criminal charges, many of his artists left his label due to issues encountered with their deals which saw a rapid fall of his recording house. Nonetheless, today, Sean has created an everlasting impact in the music industry not only in America but the world at large as a rapper, record producer and clothing designer.

En décembre 1991, Sean a fait la promotion d'un match de basket caritatif au City College de New York qui a entraîné la mort de neuf personnes et 29 blessés alors que la foule se frayait un chemin dans le stade. Uptown Records ne pouvait plus travailler avec Sean, il a donc été licencié en 1993.
En quittant Uptown Records, Sean a capitalisé sur ses efforts, l'expérience accumulée et les relations nouées dans son emploi précédent pour créer son label d'enregistrement, Bad Boys Entertainment. Il a travaillé avec des artistes hip-hop et R&B émergents et établis tels que Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Boys 2 Men, etc. Ces artistes étaient très appreciés du public, ce qui a permis à Sean d'accumuler des millions de dollars en travaillant avec eux.
Avec sa maîtrise de l'industrie de la musique, Sean a découvert un dealer de rue nommé Christopher Wallace alias The Notorious B.I.G. qui était rappeur, et l'a rendu célèbre en un an. Cette réalisation à ouvert les portes à un contrat de 15 millions de dollars pour transférer son label à Arista Records.

Il a étendu ses tentacules vers d'autres domaines de la vie comme la création d'une émission de téléréalité, la signature d'un accord avec la marque de boisson Cîroc et l'achat d'une ligne de vêtements hip-hop. En 2013, Sean a lancé son réseau d'orientation musicale Revolt et en 2017, il a déclaré son intérêt à acheter le North Carolina Panther pour augmenter le nombre de propriétaires afro-américains de la NFL.
Grâce à Bad Boy Entertainment, Sean a donné au monde la plupart des artistes de renom que le monde a appréciés au fil des ans avec d'innombrables succès. Cela a fait de lui l'un des magnats les plus riches du monde de la musique et lui a permis de changer le visage du hip-hop. Malgré tout le succès engrangé par le label de Sean, il a fait face à de nombreux défis dans sa carrière tels que des accusations criminelles, beaucoup de ses artistes ont quitté son label en raison de problèmes rencontrés avec leurs accords ce qui a entrainé une chute rapide de sa maison d'enregistrement. Néanmoins, aujourd'hui, Sean a créé un impact infini dans l'industrie de la musique non seulement en Amérique mais dans le monde entier en tant que rappeur, producteur de disques et créateur de vêtements.
